My Plan
My plan for this research paper is to build upon a short paper that I wrote for English 112. I believe that this is a great controversy that I feel very strongly about. I think I will start by explaining the intensity of modern compeitive cheerleading and some statistics of how the sport has grown recently. I want to explain the athletic talent it takes to compete in cheerleading and why it should be considered a sport instead of somply an activity. Then I will talk about the common counterarguments that others make about why cheerleading is not hard enough to be considered a sport. I think that I will be able to plead a very good case for this because I will then respond to the counterarguments with suggestions or proof that I have found that proves my point. I think that I have enough personal experience with this topic to discuss it and argue for it strongly.

I think that this would be an interesting topic because when i think of cheerleading I do not think of it as a sport. But that's because I really don't know what all goe into cheerleading and how much time and dedication it takes to be a competitive cheerleader.
I would have to agree with Todd, I was on the football team and even though cheerleaders were there practicing when we did and at every game, I still didn't think of it as a true sport. However if you have to be extremely dedicated to be a competitive cheerleader then I guess it isnt any different then all the other sports! Great topic you picked!
